What is freeze-drying?
Freeze-drying is the world's highest-quality and gentlest method for drying fruit and vegetables. Frozen fruit is placed in a vacuum chamber. The resulting negative pressure evaporates the water contained in the fruit, leaving behind light, crispy fruits. Because freeze-drying is a very gentle production process, valuable nutrients and vitamins are preserved. This also means that the fruit remains free of additives, is unsulfured, and oil-free. The end product, the freeze-dried fruit, has a very long shelf life and can be stored unrefrigerated.

Why are freeze-dried fruits so special?
The advantages and special features of freeze-dried fruit are that you can always have some in stock at home, as they last a long time without refrigeration. Regardless of seasonality or regionality, you can easily incorporate a variety of fruits into your diet. These delicious fruits are also perfect for on-the-go use, as they are light and compact. The fruits are natural. Freeze-drying preserves all the vitamins, flavors, and nutrients in the fruit. Furthermore, the fruits can be quickly and easily prepared for all kinds of desserts. Whether as an ingredient in your porridge or muesli, for baking, or as a dessert topping, these crunchy and delicious fruits have a wide range of uses in both home cooking and the catering industry!

Are freeze-dried fruits healthy?
After harvesting, the fruit is quickly and carefully frozen, then gently freeze-dried. This preserves valuable nutrients and vitamins. Our freeze-dried products are made from 100% fruit and contain no additives or added sugar. Our fruit is particularly popular as a quick addition to fresh fruit, as a vegan snack on the go, or as a substitute for sweets. Freeze-drying makes them richer in micronutrients than conventionally dried fruit. However, it should be noted that in addition to the vitamins, the fructose is also concentrated. For comparison: 1 kg of fresh strawberries corresponds to 100 g of freeze-dried strawberries.

What can you use freeze-dried fruit/fruit powder for?
You can be super creative here! The freeze-dried fruits are traditionally suitable for preparing your own muesli, porridge, smoothie, yogurt and protein shakes/bowls. You decide how fruity you want them. They are also perfect for making homemade ice cream, energy balls, chocolates, chocolate, muesli bars, tea preparation, fruit ice cubes or simply as a practical and delicious snack between meals. You can use fruit powder , like the freeze-dried fruits, for your (vegan and gluten-free) breakfast bowl or for all kinds of shakes. Simply mixed with natural yogurt, you have homemade fruit yogurt with no additives. The fruit powders are also very popular in baking, as a natural coloring for cream or dough. Our raspberry, strawberry and wild blueberry fruit powders are very popular here. Important when baking: Be sure to stir the freeze-dried fruit into the batter before putting it in the oven! Due to the lack of water content, they burn more quickly. When using fruit powder as a coloring agent for the batter, be careful not to overheat the baking temperature. Where do the fruits come from?
Our fruit comes from certified producers in the EU. Depending on the harvest season, some fruit may be harvested outside of the EU (Egypt, Morocco, etc.) and imported to the manufacturer in the EU.
-
Are freeze-dried fruits contaminated with pesticides?
Our products come with a certificate of analysis and meet all the requirements specified and required by the EU standard. What makes us unique is that we are also "IFS Global Markets Food" certified. This certification is a standardized assessment program for food safety for retail and private-label products.
-
How do you store freeze-dried fruit/fruit powder?
Our products are best stored in a dark, cool room with low humidity. Our cans and bulk packages are hermetically sealed. However, they should be consumed within 1-2 months of opening, as the fruit/fruit powder comes into contact with humidity every time it is opened. It is important that the packaging is properly sealed. Otherwise, the fruit will become soft within a day or the fruit powder will clump.
-
How long do freeze-dried fruits/fruit powders last?
The best-before date after receipt of the goods is usually between 3 and 12 months. Unopened, the fruits and fruit powders usually last significantly longer.
However, it is important to ensure that the packaging is properly sealed.

How sustainable are freeze-dried fruits?
Unfortunately, we live in a throwaway society. The oversupply of food, as well as misinterpreted best-before dates, are reasons why too much food ends up in the bin. Fresh and perishable foods, in particular, can't always be consumed in time by busy, absent people these days. Or even by ordinary people who don't always keep track of all their food. ;) In this case, the integration of freeze-dried fruit could make a decisive contribution to reducing food waste.
If the question is about manufacturing:
The production of freeze-dried products is currently still relatively energy-intensive. It's not always possible to harvest the fruit locally and seasonally fresh, thus avoiding long transport routes and imports. However, overall, the sustainability of production is positive. For example, freeze-dried fruit can be transported in larger quantities and in a more environmentally friendly way due to its volume and weight.

What material is the packaging made of?
Our packaging is made of paper and has a membrane layer inside. We strive to use environmentally friendly packaging materials, but we still have to comply with quality guidelines for food packaging. To ensure product shelf life and prevent moisture from reaching our crispy fruit, a barrier layer made of plastic and aluminum is essential. The packaging is coated with a thin layer of aluminum on the inside. To prevent the food from coming into direct contact with the aluminum layer, it is covered with another layer of plastic.
